Hubei Museum of Art, Wuhan, China
Although the Museum may resemble many other such modern art spaces in in China during our visit the thing that we liked most was the discovery of the Fine art room on the fourth floor. We found a room full of copies of classical western sculptures, the Idea was that students or visitors could go into this room and try out their artistic skills be it painting drawing or sculpture.
The visitors had a chance to talk to some art students who where in the process of creating/ copying/ reproducing well known master pieces. There is a certain joy in seing the art work take shape step by step.
There’s another hidden room upstairs, the room is bright and filled with about 15-20 children from the age of about 3 to 10 years old. This room encourages children of all ages to be artistic individuals.
Hubei Museum of Art is located by the East Lake in Wuchang district of the city Wuhan, neighboring the Hubei Museum, Hubei Daily and Hubei Academy of Social Sciences, finally form the cultural center of Wuhan.
